San Roque is a traditional Spanish town of 26,000 just off the
A7 and very close to Gibraltar and Sotogrande. The town makes a pleasant short trip with a variety of historical buildings
and houses and streets with attractive Spanish facades plus a museum.
If you a have an hour or two spare or wish to
stop for lunch or evening meal, there is a variety of restaurants and bars available, the latter of which are famed for their
tapas There is also a supermarket, handy for anyone staying at Alcaidesa, Sotogrande or the San Roque Resort.
The tradition
of bullfighting is clear to see here with the bullring in the centre of town and many of the bars and cafes are adorned with
old photos of fights from the past. The bullring dates back to 1853 and is the oldest in Cadiz.
